Panasonic G70 and Siemens Xelibri 6.....
Sometimes mobile phones compete on features, and sometimes on design. In the case of the Panasonic G70 and Siemens Xelibri 6, we have two phones designed strictly for the "girlie" market that are prepared to sacrifice technical features for looks and handbag-friendliness.
In strictly technical terms neither phone is too impressive. The screens are small on both phones, only the Panasonic G70 supports GPRS or WAP, there's no bluetooth or Java support for applications or games. But this largely misses the point - these are meant to be simple, functional handsets that cover the basics.
In pretty much all technical aspects, the Panasonic G70 is superior to the Xelibri 6. The Panasonic is tri-band (compared to the Xelibri 6 which is dual band), supports GPRS data and has a WAP browser (the Xelibri doesn't have this), it has an external display (the Xelibri has none) and the Panasonic's display has 50% more pixels.
However, the Xelibri 6 is pretty much identical to the G70 in terms of weight, and battery life is roughly comparable too. Although prices for the G70 aren't available yet, the SIM free model will probably be around the same as the Xelibri 6 at roughly 280/180.
Where the Xelibri 6 scores is, arguably, in looks. The Xelibri seems to have a much more elegant design than the Panasonic which manages to look a little like a Christmas decoration. The Xelibri's twin mirrors, one standard and one magnifying are a much simpler way of doing it than the Panasonic's in-screen mirror which is limited the inbuilt 128x96 pixel display. The key point with the Xelibri 6 is that it has the ability to swap SIM cards on the fly, and this really is the whole point of the Xelibri.. it's not designed to be your main phone, but something that you can use if you're going out and want something small and smart.

So, if you're looking for this type of phone, we think the key point is how pretty it looks, and to us the Xelibri 6 is the far more attractive handset. If you want a phone that's powerful and practical, then probably neither of these is what you're looking for..
Italian author wrote a book using mobile phone !!
This is the power of T9 ( predictive text ) dictionary used in mobile phones. Normally used for writing text messages, who can even think that an Italian author will be able to use it for writing a whole book and finally publishing it.
Italian author named Robert Bernocco wrote 384-page science fiction novel, Compagni di Viaggo or Fellow Travelers in English. The book took him 17 weeks to write using Nokia 6630 which was then downloaded to computer for further proof reading. The book is now available at lulu.com and you can buy it for a little less than $18.
Well !! I wonder how some people are capable of doing such thing. I remember once when i wrote a big mail on my mobile handset, my thumb started paining and also strained my eyes to a great extent. Have you ever tried doing such stuff on your mobile. It took 17 weeks for him to complete the book, which he might have completed in just few weeks , but then none of the blog must have posted about that
. ( Like just another wordpress blog , the book would have been just another book written by hand or on computer
) . What so ever, the effort taken by the author are worth mentioning !! What do you think about this ??
Slim and sleek phone concept !!
Have a look at the snaps of another phone concept. This time its really slim phone concept which can get you grooving. I totally agree with intomobile, that its highly inspired by Nokia 6300. Just slice nokia 6300 and you will get this.

It got looks and beauty. Even though its got a huge screen , the keypad seems to be matter of concern here. It would be difficult to operate with a protruding keypad, may be the designer could have hooked a chemically etched keypad like in Motorola Razr series or the one in latest nokia N76.
Oops !! Am I thinking that its gonna be real?? Its been designed by a member at productdesign forums .Seems like he worked really hard on this. You can watch more pics on the product design link............ COMMENTS WELCOME
Smart and GPS-enabled Samsung i550
And another reinforcement to Samsung's line-up, rumored to arrive either late in 2007 or early in 2008, is a smartphone - the Samsung i550, running S60 platform and coming with 3G connectivity, as well as HSDPA for faster data. But the best thing about the i550 is its GPS department.
Daydreamer merges Walkman with CyberShot
One of those numerous Sony Ericsson fans has come up with a concept design of a mobile phone that the maker could launch some time in the future. Apparently, this hybrid represents his golden dream, a phone where Walkman and Cybershot come together, with touch-sensitive controls all around. As the "developer" claims, the design builds upon the Sony Ericsson W960i, and in fact this is a dual-face phone, with Walkman and CyberShot (inspired by the K850i) sit on opposite sides.
It is called the Sony Ericsson H1i, where "H" stands for Hybrid and comes equipped with a 3-inch widescreen touch-sensitive display capable of 480x270-pixel resolution and 7,2 Mpix camera with flash. And basically this handset has no buttons, at least in the form we have used to see them - all numbers and letters are displayed on the backlighted screen.
Ericsson and Texas Instruments to Co-Develop Innovative 3G Solutions for Handset Manufacturers
Ericsson and Texas Instruments are planning to join forces to create solutions for 3G-enabled mobile devices - the technology, the companies are developing, will combine small and power efficient 3G modens from Ericsson with high-performance OMAP applications processors from TI.
Ericsson and Texas Instruments stated that their solutions will enable handset manufacturers to differentiate their products through rich, easy-to-use and customizable user interfaces, and through a robust and flexible application architecture and eventually reduce complexity, investment and time-to-market. Handsets based on these solutions are expected to be available on the market in the second half of 2008.
Apple iPhone vulnerable to unauthorized access

Independent Security Evaluators has announced that Apple iPhone is vulnerable to hacker attacks, that can allow your foes to obtain access to information stored int the handset's memory. The device can be overrun via Wi-Fi wireless connection, and also a special web-page, that an iPhone user has to open in Safari (naturally, a victim can be persuaded to do so in a variety of ways).
The researches over at Independent Security Evaluators claim to have tested it with their own hands - they wrote a script, embedded it in a web-page and then used Safari on the iPhone to open it. This way, the experts say, they managed to access confidential information stored in the handset's memory - call history, messages, contacts, passwords and other things. On top of that, with these manipulations done, one can controls the cracked iPhone remotely - send messages, make calls, record audio and so on.
SGH-P520: touch-screen phone by Samsung

The web has finally got the leak on Samsung's very own SGH-P520, which is no stranger to our news posts - some time ago the P520 made it through the FCC chambers. In some sense, the Samsung SGH-P520 is here to strike back at Apple iPhone and LG Prada: the handset comes equipped with a touch-screen and ditches any kind of keypad, with only pick/hang up buttons mounted on otherwise bare surface. The device is also remarkable for pocket-friendly dimensions and skinny profile.
Spec sheet of Samsung SGH-P520:
- GSM/EDGE (triband) connectivity
- Touch-sensitive QVGA display measuring 2,6 inches from corner to corner, capable of 262K colors
- 50 Mb of built-in memory
- microSD-socket
- 3 MPix camera
- A2DP-enabled Bluetooth
- Wi-Fi with UMA support
- 960 mAh battery
- Talk time - 180 minutes
- Standby time - 220 hours
- Dimensions - 88x54x8,9 mm
- Weight - 102 grams
Smart Nokia N81 now for real
The profile posted on the maker's page corroborates the preliminary facts - the N81 indeed comes with WCDMA connectivity, though HSDPA is not on its spec sheet, 240x320-pixel resolution and Symbian 9.2 S60 3rd Edition FP1 inside.
Google has a mobile service in the works
Google is said to have a new service for mobile phones in the works - with its help the users will be able to find and also buy ringtones, games and other content for their gadgets. While the mobile version of Google search engine has been around for quite some time, now the company wants to go even further and come up with an effective system of access and purchase of mobile content.
The new service by Google will operate as follows: upon request, the user will receive an individual list of content-provides, including links where he can get ringtones, games and so on. At present Google is cooperating with a number of companies in an effort to classify the provided data and make it searchable, also they have integration with Gmail in mind. The new Google's search engine will be reminiscent of Google Product Search (Froogle) - price comparison system.
Music minded LG Trax with 3G

As it seems the handset sports GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz connectivity, as well as 3G WCDMA with HSDPA. The Trax comes in housed in clamshell type design and features player controls on the front fascia, on top of that, the LG Trax boasts a 1,3 Mpix camera, microSD-slot and Bluetooth connectivity. The bundled music player deals with MP3, WMA and AAC.
Some details on new Zunes
Whizbyte has come up with some more bits of info on the new generation of Microsoft Zune players, reported, as they claim, by a Microsoft employee. By the way, the first Zune sales have gone according to the plan and already exceeded 1 million units. As you might remember, the web has been buzzing about two additions to the Zune range, known as the Scorpio (80 Gb onboard) and the Draco (flash-based), arriving by Christmas.
Samsung G800 leaked
Another high-end camera phone from Samsung seems to be on the way out, as some unofficial information has leaked. The Samsung G800 slider has a 5 megapixel auto focus camera with 3x optical zoom and is seamlessly the successor of Samsung G600, which was recently announced.
Samsung G800 is recognizable for its stylish design and better camera integration with dedicated camera button and xenon flash. The back of the phone includes elements, inherent to advanced camera bodies - a specific leather-like cover ensuring better grip, as well as lens and a xenon flash comfortably covered with a stylish lens lid. The front panel grasps our attention with its large display. The form factor is easily identifiable as a slider, but it might as well offer a touch-based user interface and no hardware keypad.

Other features of the Samsung G800 include Bluetooth, USB support, 3G or HSDPA connectivity and stereo speakers. We are somewhat uncertain about the presence of 3G support, since most of the Samsung 3G-enabled handset come out under the Z-series. As of yet, no information is available on the video recording capabilities of the device.
Although optical zoom enabled phones are not something new on the market as we have already witnessed the coming to light of Nokia N93, Nokia N93i, Sharp 902, Sharp 903 and Sharp 904, the Samsung G800 looks like quickly becoming a common favourite when it hits the shelves. This is expected to happen in the early months of 2008.
Amazing mobile phone concepts ! Too good to be true !!!
Samsung SLIQ
The concept SLIQ Phone by Samsung introduces advanced touch interface which eliminates the conventional keypad making the overall usage experience a highly tactile one. An extra wide LCD screen maximizes visual impact, allowing the user to benefit from several key features of the phone, including the 2 megapixel camera featuring Schneider-Kreuznach lens, video player and document viewer capacity. Above all, these features contribute to the phone’s beautifully sleek and simplistic appearance.

Health Conscious Phone
Health Conscious Phone can smell and recognize foods eaten by their unique chemical signature. eNose technology is in charge of the process. It tracks and analyses info to let the user know what food groups he/she is missing. In addition the phone features unusual health-related design.

Asus Aura
Asus Aura offers movable navigation module with navigation buttons, another - a sliding QWERTY keyboard that should make text entry much easier.
Other features of Asus Aura include - 3,9″ touchscreen covering the whole surface of the phone, 2 megapixel camera, microSD memory card slot, GSM, UMTS, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. All of this in a 6mm thick package.
Unfortunately Asus Aura is just a concept so far and will stay that way probably a few years.

Mobile phone Security : Iris Recognition for Camera mobiles
Oki has claimed to develop a mobile application which can take mobile phone security to the next level. Iris recognition technology is now no longer limited to the hi-tech computer , but will be avaiable for camera mobile phones after the official availability is announced by the company.
In order to run the Iris Recognition Technology, the mobile phone has to be equipped with a camera capable of at least 1 megapixel resolution, although a 2 megapixel one would make it more probable to see better results.
This application is currently available for symbian and Windows mobile platform, that means Iphone is still out of list . Seems like the technology is surprisingly accurate, and reports have said that only 1 in 100,000 resulted in error.
Oki Electronic has made no specifications on the date when this software will be available for everyone to use or the price tag it will come with.
Normal Iris Scanner uses Infra Red for eye scan, but this application will be able to distinguish based on camera image , that too minimum of 1 megapixel !!! The results of error of only 1 in 100,000 seems highly questionable, with modern camera’s utilizing some many parameters for taking photograph !!! Moreover, camera picture quality highly depends on the how bright is the object is .. so what about the night , will it accept picture taken in night mode in cameras ??
Comments welcome
Tiger Paw Screen Cleaner Cellphone Strap

Rather than have a cellphone strap that looks cute and does nothing, this Tiger Paw cellphone strap actually lets you clean your screen—albeit a small cellphone screen.
Just put the tiger (or sheep) paw on your finger and start wiping away. The strap clings conveniently to your phone, and also comes with a tail for some reason. This is the greatest cellphone strap ever.

Vodafone wants a 3G iPhone
![]() |
Vodafone Group CEO Arun Sarin is reported to be concerned that the current iPhone does not operate on 3G networks.
Sarin said “It is clearly a good, software driven device, but we’re concerned about wideband area coverage so that 3G or HSDPA connectivity with the iPhone is something we look forward to”. This could be the reason that Vodafone have cooled interest in the iPhone recently, with O2 now reported to be the favourite to take the exclusive iPhone contract in the UK. The iPhone currently offers connectivity via WiFi and EDGE. |
Top 5 Java applications
In time past, you could easily define the difference between a smartphone, and a non smartphone. As technology has developed, the lines distinguishing differences between the two have become increasingly blurred. This can be seen most clearly in the area of applications for mobile phones. Nowadays not only smartphones can have applications added to them. As handsets become more powerful, the development of applications in java has spread, and there are some very good applications available which add real functionality to a mobile phone. Here is a list of five of our favourites, in no particular order.
Gmail – As with most things Google offer, Gmail has a simple, clean, easy to use interface. The java Gmail application is around 100kb in size, and replicates the UI you get with Gmail on the PC. You can view attachments, archive email, search through saved mail, and all standard email features, just as you can on Gmail on a PC. To download the Gmail app, point your phones browser to gmail.com/app
Opera Mini – Another way to distinguish a standard mobile phone to a smartphone used to be web access. Smartphones allowed access to the full internet, whereas most normal phones had a basic WAP browser. These days there is Opera Mini. Opera Mini works by condensing down the website you are requesting to view and delivering a slimmed down version to your phone. This allows for faster browsing with less data transfer. Less data transfer meaning less cost. You can access Opera Mini by entering www.operamini.com into your phones native browser.
Yahoo Go – If you have a Yahoo account you can access various services via the Yahoo Go application. Yahoo Go offers quick access to Yahoo Onesearch, your Yahoo Calendar and address book, Yahoo Mail, Sports and News headlines, Flickr and Yahoo weather reports. You can download Yahoo Go by entering get.go.yahoo.co.uk on your phone browser
Yell - Everyone at some point uses Yellow Pages. You could be searching for a dentist, florist or chemist. You could be looking for a hotel, a gift or legal advice. With the Yellow Pages you can virtually find anything and everything. Once you’ve chosen your category, enter the business name or type and the town or post code area you want to search in. The Yell application connects to the net and delivers the results on your phone screen. Certainly cheaper than a call to 118 whoever. Once you have the results your options are to call direct, show the location of the business on a map, get directions to the place from your current location, send the info by text to someone else or simply store the info to your phonebook for future reference. You can download the Yell application from mobile.yell.com/uk on your mobile phone.
Shozu – Shozu is a neat application that allows you to upload pictures to your blog, on the move. With most medium range handsets on the market having at least a 2.0 megapixel camera, you can take quality ‘point n shoot’ pics and upload them for friends and family to see. Lots of online services are available, including Flickr, Blogger, Picasa,Typepad, Vox, Wordpress. You can even use Shozu to upload video clips to YouTube. Shozu also allows you to back up your contacts online. So, if you get a new handset, all you need to do is install Shozu and download your contacts to your new phone. Simple and straight forward. You need to set up a Shozu account online, at www.shozu.com. Enter which phone you have and your mobile number and you will receive a text message with a link to download the application.
And an honorary mention goes to Sky By Mobile. This application would have definitely been in our top 5, if it were freely available. But SKY, in their wisdom, claim that the application is only compatible with a small selection of phones. My own personal usage shows this to be different, I’ve used it on every phone I’ve had over the last two years. SBM is an excellent application that allows you to view a SKY TV Guide screen layout. You can access the latest news, weather, sports scores and results, and most impressively if you have SKY+ you can set the box to record a program, from your handset. If you are out with friends and you forgot to set the box to record your favourite program, with SBM this is no longer an issue. Login, select the program and set it to record. Come on SKY, get your fingers out and make this app more available to all.

Google AdSense for Mobile !!

AdSense for Mobile
AdSense for mobile ads are precisely matched to the content of your mobile webpage using the same targeting technology as AdSense for content. Our crawlers scan the page to determine its content and then automatically serve ads that are relevant to what your visitors see.
In order for Google to properly target ads to your mobile website, our crawler needs to be able to access your mobile webpages. The phone useragent we use to crawl your site will contain the string "Mediapartners-Google".
AdSense for mobile allows publishers to generate earnings from their mobile webpages using targeted Google ads. Just like AdSense for content, with AdSense for mobile Google matches ads to the content of your site -- in this case, your mobile website. You'll earn money whenever your mobile website's visitors click on your ads.

A collection of cool phones
Here are 8 cool mobile phones (some real and some concept) gophone have compiled for us.
This concept was designed by Michael Laut. Thde device is a metal ring with a transparent material inside the ring with blue lights (keypad).
2) Pantech IM-R20
This is made by the Korean Pantech and is actually quite real. The phone is a slider and features a touchscreen instead of a keypad, 2 mega pixel AF camera, microSD, QVGA screen and 3D sound.
This is a winning concept from a design competition and is created by Hugo Danti. You can see in the pic how the device works.
This concept has a cylindrical shape where the buttons are on a roll which can be tucked away and the screen rolled up. It's kinda neat but reminds me of a toilet paper roll.
This is purely based on fashion and style. The device looks like a bracelet and even has buttons that look like precious stone. It also comes with a mathcing bleutooth headset, also with buttons that look like precious stones.
This concept makes use of wooden materials combined with aluminium steel, and high quality plastics. It looks nice but a bit big (thick). It's probably heavy too.
7) Nokia SURV1
The main part of the device is in the center with openings on the top and bottom (supposedly to make it easier to hook...for example belts). It is shockproof, waterproof and has built in GPS.
